Celebrate the Legends Eric & Ern

Fans of comedy legends Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise will enjoy a celebration of their famous sketches and more when An Evening of Eric & Ern comes to Theatre Royal Winchester on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 November.

An Evening of Eric & Ern is packed with renditions of the comedy duo’s much-loved comic sketches – from Greig’s Piano Concerto to Mr Memory Arsenal; routines and songs; there’s even a special musical guest planned! Described as a show for all ages – from 8 to 80 – An Evening of Eric & Ern evokes memories of times when whole families would sit around the telly to tune into the double act’s famous Christmas specials.

Over the years they performed on stage, in film, and on radio and TV, Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise became one of Britain’s best-loved comic pairings and a household name. Now, An Evening of Eric & Ern returns to mark their centenary years – Ernie Wise would have celebrated his 100th birthday last November, and Eric Morecambe in May this year (2026).

The show is performed by the Olivier-nominated duo behind the critically acclaimed West End hit, Eric & Little Ern – Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens – who first met at drama school in the 80s when people would ask them if they were a double act! Many years later, Jonty was asked if he would perform as Eric Morecambe for a show and, spotting his friend Ian – his Ernie – they performed a five-minute sketch and the rest is history!

Audiences to An Evening of Eric & Ern are guaranteed laughs aplenty and a feeling that they’ve just watched the real thing!

An Evening of Eric & Ern will be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Wednesday 11 November at 6.30pm and Thursday 12 November at 2.30pm & 7.30pm. Recommended age: 8+. For more information, visit theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk or call 01962 840 440.
